Gyeongpo Beach

Gyeongpo Beach is located 1 kilometer from Gyeongpodae and is a sandy beach situated between Gyeongpo Lake and the East Sea. With about 6 kilometers of scenic shoreline, it is one of South Korea’s most famous tourist destinations and a beach where natural landscapes blend harmoniously with cultural heritage. Gyeongpodae is renowned for its ideal spots to watch the sunrise and moonrise, while the pine forests along the coastline and blooming crabapple flowers are also major attractions.

Fishing enthusiasts can also take a speedboat to the small rocks in the sea just off the beach.

Nearby, there are also notable historical sites such as Gyeongpodae and Ojukheon, which attract a steady stream of visitors. Every spring, the Cherry Blossom Festival is held from the Gyeongpo entrance to Gyeongpodae, while in summer, the Beach Festival takes place, featuring various cultural events (including traditional performances and beach dance festivals).

Transportation: Take bus No. 202 from in front of the Gangneung Express Bus Terminal and get off at Gyeongpo Beach. Buses run every 20 minutes and the ride takes about 20 minutes. By taxi, it takes approximately 10 minutes. Note: Operating period – July 10 to August 20
