Given the growing number of Taiwanese visitors to Korea, Gangwon Province, in collaboration with the Korea Tourism Organization, is promoting Gangwon tourism in Taiwan. Following the successful hosting of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, it is now bringing new tourism information about Gangwon.

This time, Vice Governor of Gangwon Province, Mr. Jeong Wan-ho, led three local areas that host Gangwon winter festivals — including Gangneung, Hongcheon, and Pyeongchang — along with Gangwon Air, well-known ski resort hotels in Gangwon (Yongpyong Resort, Daemyung Resort, High1 Resort, Alpensia Resort, and The White Hotel), and 12 organizations and enterprises such as travel agencies, to participate in the promotion. To promote winter tourism in Gangwon and attract more Taiwanese visitors, a variety of promotional activities have been launched.

In addition to promoting the sites of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, including winter skiing, festivals, the DMZ demilitarized zone, and experience-based tourism in Gangwon, this event also unveiled Gangwon Air’s first international route to open in December, the 【Taipei–Yangyang route】, allowing Taiwanese travelers to fly directly to Gangwon and its related winter tourist attractions, giving them a fresh taste of Gangwon tourism.

Additionally, this event brought to Taipei the photo zones of the Olympic legacy “Wishing Tree,” which received high praise during the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, and the “Gangneung Jumunjin BTS Bus Stop,” known as the filming site for the K-pop group BTS’s music video, presenting the authentic charm of Gangwon as a K-culture tourism destination.
