Tamna Wood and Stone Garden

Tamna Wood and Stone Garden displays trees and stones of special value from Jeju Island. This privately operated tourist attraction features naturally formed rocks and dried roots of yamamomo trees, each given a name or story that matches its shape. The dried roots of yamamomo trees are only found below an altitude of 700 meters on Mount Halla. The wood is hard and has traditionally been used to make combs and similar items. Among the yamamomo tree artworks exhibited here, 20 pieces have been designated as local cultural heritage items, with approximately 1,000 pieces in total considered artworks. In addition, there are over 500 hair-style inspired rock arrangements. The naturally formed stones preserved and displayed here were collected one by one across Jeju Island starting from 1960. The stones vary in type, with some found only along a 4-kilometer stretch of shoreline in Bukchon, Seogwipo.

Transportation: Take the 500-seat bus from the airport, which departs every 15 minutes. Alternatively, take a bus from the Jeju Suburban Bus Terminal bound for Jeju National University.
