Shuiyue Peak

Shuiyue Peak is located in Gaoshan Village, Hankyeong-myeon, Jeju City, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, South Korea. It is a small peak situated in Gaoshan, the westernmost part among the many volcanic peaks of Jeju. The peak stands at an elevation of 77 meters, jutting out over the sea and adjacent to Jeju’s most expansive plain. On clear days and during sunset, the nearby waters turn a beautiful crimson red, creating the famous Shuiyue Peak Sunset, leaving behind an impressively scenic view.

At the summit of Shuiyue Peak stands a small pavilion called “Shuiyue Pavilion.” From the pavilion, you can see Geumgwi Island, one of the most beautiful islands in the nearby seas of Jeju, not far away, as well as famous sights such as Songak Mountain and Bamboo Island, which are all clearly visible. Next to the pavilion is the Gaoshan Meteorological Observatory, which monitors the western region of Jeju Island. Descending from the peak of Shuiyue Peak, there is also a small hermitage, quietly and elegantly nestled there, welcoming every visitor who comes to explore.
