Dragon Eye Mountain

Dragon Eye Mountain is located at No. 28, Jondal-li Mountain, Gujeol-ri, Gujwa-eup, Jeju-si, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, South Korea. It is a parasitic volcano with an elevation of 247.8 meters. The crater features a variety of types, and parts of the slopes are covered with lava, making it a composite volcanic landform. From the summit, visitors can look down to see the crater resembling the eye of a dragon, glowing with intense light — hence the name Dragon Eye Mountain.

The foothills of Dragon Eye Mountain consist of flat, open grasslands, typical of the terrain found beneath Jeju’s hills. The mountainside and slopes are covered with a variety of brightly blooming wildflowers. Though not particularly showy, they add vitality to the volcano. Dragon Eye Mountain is relatively easy to climb and is well suited for exercise. However, to prevent wildfires, the authorities have designated fire prevention periods: from February 1 to May 15 in spring, and from November 1 to December 15 in autumn. Therefore, visitors should plan their trips accordingly and avoid visiting during these periods.
