Garden of Contemplation

The official name of the Garden of Contemplation is the Bonsai Art Garden. Located between Hanrim Park and Mt. Sanbangsan in Jeju City, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, South Korea, it is not only the only bonsai-themed park in Korea but also the largest bonsai garden in the world, often referred to as the "Garden of Imagination." The park opened to the public in July 1992, covering a total area of 12,000 pyeong (approximately 39,600 square meters), and boasts captivating scenery. It attracts over 300,000 domestic and international visitors each year, including globally renowned figures such as —, —, and Nakasone.

The Garden of Contemplation is home to more than 1,700 trees of over 100 precious species, aged between 30 and 300 years, including maple, wisteria, and pine trees. Additionally, there are over 1,000 native plants such as wildflowers and orchids from Jeju. Everywhere visitors go, they are greeted by fragrant flowers, birdsongs, and lush greenery, creating an incredibly beautiful landscape. Moreover, the garden features unique Jeju elements such as earthen walls, ponds, stone bridges, and artificial waterfalls, all well worth exploring.
