Korean War Memorial

The Korean War Memorial is located in Seoul, the capital of South Korea. Opened in 1994, it covers an area of 20,000 square meters and is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and exhibiting historical materials related to the country’s wars throughout history. As a national museum, it is the only comprehensive war history museum in South Korea and the largest of its kind in the world, housing a collection of 13,000 war memorabilia and military equipment pieces.

The Korean War Memorial is divided into indoor exhibition halls and outdoor display areas. The indoor section consists of six exhibition rooms: the Patriotic Memorial Room, the War History Room, the Korean War Room, the Overseas Dispatched Troops Room, the Development Room, and the Large Equipment Room. Through various display techniques such as real objects, three-dimensional models, replicas, illustrated records, and videos, it vividly and comprehensively presents materials on various defensive wars from the Three Kingdoms period to the modern era, as well as the merits of those who sacrificed for the nation. The corridors on both sides of the memorial display name plaques of soldiers and police officers who died in wars such as the Korean War and the Vietnam War, along with plaques for fallen soldiers of the United Nations forces that participated in the Korean War.

The outdoor exhibition area displays vehicles, tanks, field artillery, aircraft, armored vehicles, naval guns, submarines, radars, and other equipment used by both sides during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Visitors can also go inside some of the equipment for a closer look.
