Namsan Park in Seoul

Namsan is a mountain located between Jung-gu and Yongsan-gu in Seoul. Originally part of Mount Mokmyeok, it was later separated and developed into the famous Namsan Park. Covering a total area of 2,958,864 square meters, Namsan Park is the largest park in Seoul and also one of the most visited, receiving an average of 23,000 domestic and international visitors every day.

Namsan Park is world-renowned for attractions such as Baekbeom Square, the Namsan Cable Car, and N Seoul Tower. Among them, Baekbeom Square was established to commemorate the famed independence activist Baekbeom Kim Gu (Baekbeom being his pen name) during the Japanese colonial period. A bronze statue of Kim Gu stands in the square, drawing many visitors daily to pay their respects. The Namsan Cable Car has been in operation since 1962 and has a history of over 40 years. The one-way ride from the summit of Namsan to the cable car station spans 605 meters and takes approximately three minutes, reaching a maximum height of 138 meters above ground. From the cable car, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Seoul. N Seoul Tower is an iconic landmark of Seoul. At night, its illumination beads are themed “Flower of Seoul,” using light changes to depict the blooming process of a flower — spectacular and incredibly beautiful.

Aside from its most representative sights, Namsan Park also features many other points of interest, along with the largest number of trees and wildlife in Seoul, making it a natural haven for learning about the environment.
