Kim Koo Museum

The Kim Koo Museum is a museum established to commemorate Kim Koo, a leader of Korea’s independence movement against Japanese colonial rule. It is located in Hyochang Park in Hyochang-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. As Kim Koo’s courtesy name was Baekbeom, the museum is also widely known as the Baekbeom Memorial Hall. This two-story building consists of an exhibition hall, a conference center, Baekbeom Plaza, and the tomb of Baekbeom Kim Koo. Visitors can learn about the history of Korea’s independence movement through the life and thoughts of Baekbeom.

As you step into the Baekbeom Memorial Hall, the first thing that catches your eye is the expansive Baekbeom Plaza. Passing through the plaza and entering the memorial, you will find a central lobby on the first floor displaying a statue of Baekbeom, as well as materials reflecting his childhood and his days as a volunteer soldier. The second floor showcases materials related to his time serving in the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea. There is also a dedicated research room that houses valuable documents pertaining to the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea and Korea’s modern and contemporary history.
