Nanki-Shirahama Onsen is located on the southeastern coast of the Kii Peninsula in Shirahama Town, Nishimuro District, Wakayama Prefecture. Originally named "Shirahama Onsen," it was renamed to its current name in recent years. The town surrounding Nanki-Shirahama Onsen has become one of Wakayama Prefecture’s most renowned hot spring resorts, attracting a large crowd of hot spring enthusiasts.

The area where Nanki-Shirahama Onsen is located was once a well-known port. Due to the abundance of hot springs, it gradually developed into one of Japan’s most famous hot spring resorts. Whether in the countryside or in traditional Japanese inns (ryokan), you can find hot spring baths almost everywhere. There are numerous hot spring facilities here, and you can freely choose one to enjoy a relaxing time in the warm waters. One of the greatest features of Nanki-Shirahama Onsen is that it extends close to the coastline, with abundant hot spring water gushing out, and many inns even have their own private hot spring sources. In addition to soaking in hot springs, there are also famous World Heritage Sites nearby, such as the Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range.
