In Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, there's an underwater mailbox recognized by the Guinness World Records as the deepest in the world. To send a letter, you have to dive underwater, and every day a diving postman comes to collect the mail — truly unique.

This underwater mailbox is situated about 100 meters off the Kukizaki Coast in Wakayama Prefecture, at a depth of around 10 meters. It was registered by the Guinness World Records in 2002 as the world’s deepest mailbox. Originally, it was part of an event during the 1999 Southern Kii Bear Experience Expo. After the event ended, this popular mailbox was retained and became a local highlight. To this day, a postman dives down every day to collect letters — averaging about 10 letters daily, which can go up to 50 during summer vacation or holidays. The letters are then sent all over the world.
