Gokase Suspension Bridge is a wire suspension bridge located in Kaminoeda, Totsukawa Village, Yoshino District, Nara Prefecture, Japan. It is 297 meters long and 54 meters high, making it the longest wire bridge in Japan. Completed in 1954, it was primarily built as a practical bridge for villagers through fundraising efforts by the residents of Totsukawa Village. At the time, each household donated around $3,000, raising a total of $80,000.

Beyond its function as a practical crossing, Gokase Suspension Bridge has now become a nationally renowned tourist attraction in Japan. Visitors can not only enjoy the stunning natural scenery but also experience the thrilling and exhilarating walk across the swaying bridge. During peak tourist seasons, the site attracts a constant stream of visitors. Every year on August 4th, the bridge hosts a major event called “Yuredaiko.” During this performance, drummers play on the moving bridge, skillfully balancing themselves while producing loud, rhythmic beats. Though challenging, the skilled performers always deliver impressive shows that draw enthusiastic applause from the crowds.
