Heisei Shinzan
Introduction On November 17, 1991 (the second year of the Heisei era), Mount Unzen's Fugen-dake peak, which had been dormant for 198 years, erupted again. The volcanic ash and lava accumulated to form Heisei Shinzan, standing at an elevation of 1,486 meters.
From the observation deck of Heisei Shinzan, visitors can enjoy spring flower fields and autumn foliage, as well as observe the lava from Fugen-dake up close.
