Huis Ten Bosch in Nagasaki, Kyushu, is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Located in Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, Huis Ten Bosch features architecture, streets, and transportation all designed in the style of 17th-century Holland, making it the most iconic large-scale theme park in Kyushu. Along its 6-kilometer-long canal, the park is home to amusement facilities, museums, and unique hotels, adorned with seasonal flowers throughout the year that create breathtaking views. To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Huis Ten Bosch has recently held various grand events. The immensely popular One Piece-themed real ship “Thousand Sunny” has been upgraded, and the park’s exclusive One Piece merchandise is a rare treasure not to be missed.
In addition, Nagasaki’s most famous specialty—honey cake—is epitomized by the “Nagasaki Susakiya Gomasio Honey Cake.” Produced by the fifth-generation pastry chef of Susakiya, who has 50 years of experience, it uses carefully selected flour, eggs known as “sun eggs” whose yolks are firm enough to be picked up with chopsticks, Japan’s top-tier sugar recognized in the dessert industry called “Awa Wasanbon Sugar,” and the hard-to-obtain fruit sugar “Aikawa Water Syrup.” Due to the intricate production process, only 10 can be made each day.
