The Sun Moon Lake Scenic Ring Road has been ranked among the top ten most beautiful cycling routes in the world by CNNGO, a lifestyle travel website under CNN, thanks to its stunning scenery, rich indigenous culture, and abundant natural ecology.
Sun Moon Lake boasts Taiwan’s largest scenic ring road, with a cycling route taking approximately three hours. CNNGO noted that the tranquil, emerald-green lake attracts many visitors from Taiwan and Japan every year, and has inspired numerous poets and painters. The indigenous Thao culture of Sun Moon Lake, along with its unique local ecosystem, make it an exceptionally distinctive destination.

Additionally, the newly completed Shuishe–Xiangshan Cycling Path, about 3 kilometers long and featuring a 400-meter waterway cycling section, runs entirely along the lakeshore, offering breathtaking views and gentle slopes. Near the Xiangshan Visitor Center, bridges such as Yongjie Bridge and Tongxin Bridge, as well as the Wedding Square, provide new photo spots for couples taking wedding photos, while the nearby sandy beach adds another creative attraction to Sun Moon Lake.
