Since the opening of Nagasaki Port in Japan in the 16th century, the city has been deeply influenced by Western and Chinese cultures. On March 12th, the Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel Taipei’s ibuki Japanese Restaurant will host a “Nagasaki Premium Sake Dinner,” where Japanese chef Eiji Nakamura has flown in locally sourced specialty ingredients to authentically present classic dishes such as mackerel in nanban-zuke sauce, Nagasaki-sourced sashimi, tender beef and fish ball stew, classic shrimp tempura, and five-island handmade udon noodles — a total of seven signature dishes. These will be paired with six premium Nagasaki sakes, all available exclusively at ibuki and making their Taiwan debut. The nearly 200-year-old Nagasaki honey cake shop “Sugitani Honpo” will also send master cake maker Hirokazu Kawasaki to demonstrate and serve classic chocolate and matcha-flavored cakes.

Additionally, from March 13th to April 8th, ibuki Japanese Restaurant will continue serving Nagasaki delicacies, including nearly 30 à la carte delicacies and a 10-course kaiseki set at NT$2,980 per person — guaranteed to satisfy any food lover. Those who attend the “Nagasaki Premium Sake Dinner” on March 12th or order the kaiseki set will also have a chance to win the grand prize: “two round-trip Taipei–Fukuoka flights and two nights’ accommodation.”

The “Nagasaki Premium Sake Dinner” is priced at NT$3,200 per person. Diners will receive a box of Sugitani Honpo’s popular dorayaki pancakes and a commemorative Nagasaki mug — limited to 50 sets. Established in 1811 and with nearly 200 years of history, Sugitani Honpo is Nagasaki’s premier honey cake shop. Individually purchased chocolate and matcha honey cakes are available on-site for NT$180.
