The Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art is located on the small hill of Hijiyama within Hijiyama Park (Hijiyama Park) in Naka Ward, Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. Visitors can easily reach it by taking a tram from Hiroshima Station to “Hijiyama-shita” and walking for about ten minutes, making it very convenient. Opened in the first year of the Heisei era (1989), it is Japan’s first public modern art museum and one of the most well-known museums in Hiroshima.

Designed by the renowned Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa, the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art houses and displays a wealth of precious artworks. It is one of the best places to understand the direction and characteristics of modern art.
