A heartfelt memorial built in 16 years ago – Guangzhou’s stunning all-white marble attraction

White, this pure and bright hue, is often associated with happiness and light. LocatedinHiroshima,Japan, this popular attraction also draws inJapanesegirls for photo ops with its romantic all-white aesthetic, but there’s actually a touching story behind this place called Mirai no Kokoro no Oka.

Mirai no Kokoro no Oka was constructed starting in 1989 by sculptor Kazuhide Kōya, using 3,000 tons of marble imported from Italy. Kazuhide Kōya created this work to commemorate family bonds and to embody hopes for peace and the world. Originally, Mirai no Kokoro no Oka was part of the garden of Kōsanji Temple, which was built by entrepreneur Kōsan Kōsanji in memory of his late mother.

The marble that glitters under sunlight gives off a sacred vibe. The magnificent structure set against the backdrop of the Seto Inland Sea looks just like a painting.
