When traveling, we often rely on Google Maps, which have been created over the years thanks to the hard work of mapping teams. But this time, Hiroshima Prefecture’s Tourism Bureau (カンパイ！Hiroshima Prefecture) has come up with a fun new idea—presenting the map from a cat’s perspective, mimicking Google Maps to let visitors explore Hiroshima through the eyes of a small animal.
The homepage welcomes you with RARA, the head of Hiroshima’s Little Corners Tourism Department.
The paths explored by the cats include alleys and shrines—places that even Google Maps sometimes can’t show. It’s truly like seeing the world through a cat’s knack for squeezing into tight spots. Although currently only two areas in Onomichi City are available for cat’s-eye street views...
Seeing the world from a cat’s viewpoint makes even small alleys appear surprisingly spacious.
Moreover, some spots even feature videos captured by cameras attached to RARA. But for now, only two areas are open—hopefully more will be added in the future.
