Ocean World at Richino
Ocean World at Richino is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.
Destination Introduction
Ocean World at Richino is located inside the Beijing Workers' Gymnasium. It is the first large-scale five-star marine aquarium in Beijing, jointly developed by China and New Zealand, and features Asia’s longest 120-meter acrylic underwater tunnel.
It is home to over 6,000 tropical marine fish, including reef fish, sharks, rays, eels, seahorses, starfish, deep-sea lobsters, as well as other mollusks and some endangered species. Here, you feel as if you are exploring a real tropical ocean world, enjoying the joy of being with the fish. The aquarium also has a dedicated education center that provides marine biology, marine ecology, and marine environment education for children, teenagers, and adults.
In Ocean World at Richino, you can walk through the transparent underwater tunnel, swim with the fish, explore the mysteries of the ocean, watch various fish species and giant “man-eating sharks,” and witness the thrilling live performance of humans dancing with sharks. In the underwater classroom, you can listen to fascinating stories about marine life and observe various fish specimens.
The circular multi-functional “Marine Theater” features a huge TV wall and can accommodate over 200 people, making it an ideal venue for conferences, events, and celebrations.
Additionally, Ocean World at Richino has recently introduced exciting Thai crocodile performances that are both thrilling and captivating.
The main tank at Beijing Workers' Gymnasium Ocean World at Richino holds 4.5 million liters of water, forming a tropical seawater pool. The water is artificially mixed using 120 tons of imported Israeli sea salt and purified, fully filtered Beijing municipal water supply. The water temperature is maintained at 23°C–26°C year-round, creating a near-natural habitat for over 6,000 tropical marine fish. The vast water area allows sharks to swim freely without tiring from constant turns. The fish come from around the world, including a 4.0-meter-long shark flown in from Miami, USA—the largest shark in the aquarium—along with others from Australia and some from the South China Sea.
Beijing Workers' Gymnasium Ocean World at Richino boasts Asia’s longest acrylic tunnel, stretching 120 meters, allowing visitors to view the underwater scenery in the main tank from a perspective similar to that of a diver. The water depth above the tunnel is 2 meters, and the tunnel material can withstand water pressure at depths of up to 40 meters. The exhibition hall contains 18 tanks showcasing different marine creatures, each with a separate water supply system from the main tank.
Beijing Workers' Gymnasium Ocean World at Richino Entertainment Co., Ltd. was registered and established on March 31, 1995, at the Beijing Administration for Industry and Commerce (for registration services and archives inquiries, please visit the local industrial and commercial branch).
