Fleays Wildlife Park

Fleays Wildlife Park is located in Burleigh Heads, a suburb of the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. It was established in 1952 by naturalist David Fleay with the aim of raising public awareness about the conservation of local wildlife, especially rare and endangered species.

Most of the animals in the park are native species, and their enclosures are made to closely mimic their natural habitats to ensure better survival and breeding conditions. The park has extensive experience in animal breeding and also operates a specialized wildlife hospital for sick, injured, and orphaned animals. Some of the captivating star animals include the platypus, freshwater crocodile, saltwater crocodile, tree kangaroo, and wedge-tailed eagle. Daily animal shows offer visitors a closer look at local mammals, birds, and reptiles. One of the most interesting experiences is visiting the nocturnal house, where you can see unusual creatures ranging from the bilby, found in desert regions, to the mysterious sugar glider—offering an eye-opening encounter with Australia’s unique fauna.

Fleays Wildlife Park also offers a variety of educational programs specifically designed for schools, allowing students to immerse themselves in the world of wildlife. These programs not only increase knowledge about animals but also foster a stronger awareness of conservation.
