Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is located in the heart of Taipei and is the city’s most magnificent memorial structure. The 25-hectare complex includes the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, Chiang Kai-shek Park, an archway, surrounding walls, the Memorial Boulevard, the National Theater, and the Concert Hall. It serves as Taipei’s most important venue for large-scale events and a hub for cultural performances.

The architectural design of the Memorial Hall combines the roof style of a Temple of Heaven with the body of a pyramid. The main structure features white marble walls, blue tiles, and a golden glazed tile roof, giving the entire building a grand and imposing presence. Upon entering the main hall, two Cadillac limousines once used by Chiang Kai-shek can be seen at the entrance. The cultural relics exhibition room displays Chiang Kai-shek’s clothing, personal items, and documents, while the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Room recreates his original office environment. Additionally, the hourly guard mounting ceremony held between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM daily is one of the Hall’s most captivating “shows.” The upper level of the Hall houses a bronze statue of Chiang Kai-shek, while the lower level contains an exhibition room, a cinema, the Huai’en Art Gallery, the Chiang Kai-shek Art Gallery, the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Library, an audiovisual center, the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Room, and a children’s classroom. Chiang Kai-shek (October 31, 1887 – April 5, 1975), whose given name was Zhongzheng and courtesy name Jieshi, was also known by his childhood name Ruiyuan, formal name Zhou Tai, and school name Zhiqing. A native of Yixing, Jiangsu Province, he was born in Fenghua, Zhejiang, and was a renowned political figure and military leader in modern China. He held numerous key positions, including President of the Whampoa Military Academy, Commander-in-Chief of the National Revolutionary Army, Chairman of the Nationalist Government, President of the Executive Yuan, Commander-in-Chief of the National Military Council, Generalissimo of the Republic of China, Chairman of the Kuomintang, Director of the Three People's Principles Youth League, Supreme Commander of the China Theater of the Allied Forces during World War II, and President of the Republic of China.
