Taiwan Music Hall

Taiwan Music Hall is located on the right side of Taipei’s Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and is part of the Taiwan Chiang Kai-shek Cultural Center. It is one of Taiwan’s most important venues for musical performances and is collectively referred to as the “National Theater and Concert Hall” along with the National Theater. The building adopts the traditional Chinese architectural style of the Ming and Qing dynasties, featuring a distinctive double-tiered hip-and-gable roof that boasts elegantly dynamic lines.

Inside Taiwan Music Hall, there are three levels with a total of 2,074 seats. Due to the smooth design of the walls, balconies, and floors, which reflect more sound outward, the hall’s reverberation time is controlled between 1.7 and 2.1 seconds — meeting international standards. This allows audiences in any seat to enjoy the natural acoustics from the stage without the need for microphones.

The pride of Taiwan Music Hall is its pipe organ, which measures 14 meters in length, 9 meters in height, and 3 meters in depth. It consists of 4,172 pipes, with the longest nearly 5 meters tall and the shortest just 15 centimeters. The widest pipe has a diameter of 30 centimeters, while the narrowest is just 1 centimeter. The organ includes both metal and wooden pipes. Its production, shipping, and installation took nearly two years in total, making it the largest pipe organ in Asia.
