Junken Park is located on the west side of the southern section of Junken Road in Wujiaqu City, adjacent to the north of the Bitumen Factory. Originally, it was a vegetable field of the division’s horticultural farm. The park was built in 1990, with Huang Haiping in charge of its planning, design, and construction. It covers an area of 4 hectares. By 1992, over 800,000 yuan had been invested, resulting in the completion of pavilions, waterside gazebos, zigzag bridges, ponds, rockeries, fountains, monkey hills, greenhouses, memorial archways, antique-style gates, enclosing walls, ticket booths, and other auxiliary facilities. Over 20 species of trees were planted, including Mongolian pine and red pine; more than 10 species of flowering shrubs such as lilac and elm-leaved plum; as well as tens of thousands of greenhouse flowers like roses and peonies, along with various ground-planted floral plants. The park has 4,000 square meters of lawn and 90% green coverage. In 2001, 540,000 yuan was invested to renovate the park’s pathways, laying 4,500 square meters of colored pedestrian bricks. The garden department raised an additional 200,000 yuan to build a 1,200-square-meter swimming pool within the park. Junken Park features entertainment facilities such as Mongolian yurts, inflatable water balls, fishing ponds, and a swimming pool. It is a recreational park specifically designed for leisure, entertainment, and summer retreat for local residents.
