Beijing Workers' Stadium
Beijing Workers' Stadium is located on Gongren Tiyuchang Beilu in Chaoyang District, Beijing, adjacent to the Workers' Gymnasium and the old and new embassy areas. The stadium was invested in and built by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions on August 31, 1959. It is one of the largest comprehensive stadiums in Beijing, covering an area of 35 hectares with a construction area of over 80,000 square meters. The venue includes three architectural complexes: Beijing Workers' Stadium, the Workers' Gymnasium, and the swimming pool. Its main stadium can accommodate 80,000 spectators. The Workers' Stadium was one of the ten famous buildings in Beijing during the 10th anniversary celebration of the founding of New China.
The Olympic renovation project of Beijing Workers' Stadium has been completed. This "national-level stadium," originally built in 1959, was once one of Beijing's "Ten Great Buildings" and enjoyed a reputation as being "known to everyone in the city." Over the past half-century, this "veteran" witness to countless sporting events and large-scale activities has seen the development of sports in China since the establishment of the People's Republic, having hosted five National Games, including the first, the opening and closing ceremonies and competitions of the 11th Asian Games, the 21st World University Games, and the 9th Asian Cup Football Tournament.
