Turpan Museum

Turpan Museum is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Turpan Museum houses over 5,000 exquisite cultural relics unearthed in the Turpan region, dating from the Paleolithic Age to the modern era. It serves as a miniature encyclopedia for understanding the society, politics, military, economy, and culture of Turpan through the ages. The museum's main building is a two-story structure with distinctive local features and a simple, robust style. The exhibition area is divided into three sections: the Exhibition Hall of Cultural Relics Unearthed in the Turpan Region, the Exhibition Hall of Ancient Human Remains Unearthed in the Turpan Region, and the Exhibition Hall of Giant Rhinoceros Fossils.

Among these, the Exhibition Hall of Ancient Human Remains Unearthed in the Turpan Region is the most mysterious and captivating. It displays 11 mummies dating from the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods to the Qing Dynasty, primarily excavated from the Astana–Karahoja Cemetery Cluster, the Subash Ancient Tomb Cluster, and the Yanghai Ancient Tomb Cluster.

The Giant Rhinoceros Fossil on display in the Giant Rhinoceros Fossil Exhibition Hall is the museum's prized treasure. Research indicates that it is currently the most complete giant rhinoceros skeleton fossil ever unearthed in the world.
