Ningxia is known as the hometown of goji berries, and goji farms can be found everywhere. Notable large-scale ones include: the Ningxia Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences’ Landscape Research Institute (4 km along the highway from Xincheng District to Gongzhongkou in Yinchuan), the Nanning Farm Goji Berry Garden (15 km north of Yinchuan Railway Station), and the Zhongning Goji Berry Sightseeing Garden (east side of the Zhongning Yellow River Bridge), among others. From late May to September each year is the season when goji berries ripen and are harvested. The bright red berries, glistening like agates, are a delightful sight. Visitors can personally pick goji berries in the farms and purchase both fresh and processed goji products. At Nanning Farm, you can also visit the “Goji Exhibition Hall” to learn all about the farming history and medicinal value of goji berries.
