The Hengcheng Tourist Scenic Area is located 13 kilometers from Yinchuan, the capital of Ningxia, and just 2 kilometers from Yinchuan Hedong Airport, offering convenient transportation and stunning scenery. It is a national-level tourist area integrating sightseeing, self-driving entertainment, and leisure vacations. Recognized as a Ningxia cultural industry demonstration base, it is also Ningxia’s first self-driving campsite and a research base for Western Xia studies by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. “As early as the Western Xia period, this was the famous Shunhua Ancient Ferry, which has a history of over 1,000 years. Built in the fifth year of the Zhengde era during the Ming Dynasty (1510 AD), Hengcheng Fort is the strategic defensive system of the Great Wall closest to the Yellow River, built to guard against invasions by northern ethnic minorities. It was praised by the renowned Ming general Yang Yiqing as the ‘First City on the Yellow River.’”
