Located along the Yellow River in Yuanyi Town, Huinong County. From a distance, the lush, seemingly endless tamarisk forest wraps closely around the Yellow River. The river water, tamarisk woods, green grasslands, and dense oleaster forests create a colorful landscape that offers visitors a wonderfully refreshing and boundlessly open experience. The five-hundred-thousand-mu tamarisk forest is nestled between the Yellow River and Jiahe within a narrow, approximately five-kilometer-long strip of land where sky and water meet, forming a natural “lake island.” By taking a small boat across the roughly 15-meter-wide Jiahe to enter the tamarisk forest area, visitors are greeted by a dense woodland that feels like stepping into an endless sea of trees. In the central area of the tamarisk forest, there are two expansive grassy clearings that provide ideal spaces for leisure and recreation.

Tamarisk is a unique wild plant native to Northwest China, known for its alkali and drought resistance. It has an extensive root system and particularly strong regenerative and reproductive capabilities—within just a few years, a single tamarisk can propagate into a whole grove. Its branches can be used to weave handicrafts such as baskets and bags.

Yuanyi Town: Located southeast of the northern urban area of Huinong District, Yuanyi Town borders the Yellow River to the east, the Third Drainage Channel to the west, and Weizha Town to the south, covering a total area of 7.74 square kilometers. It currently administers three village committees and one neighborhood committee, encompassing 11 villager groups. The total population of the town is 5,737, including 714 agricultural households with 2,305 people, 202 urban households with 422 people, and 1,054 non-native permanent resident households with 3,010 people.
