Yunqing Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Introduction: Yunqing Temple is located on the eastern foothills of Mount Lu, enjoying an exceptionally prime location. When viewed from a distance, the entire eastern slope of Mount Lu remarkably resembles a giant Buddha sitting facing east, and Yunqing Temple is perfectly positioned at the center of this giant Buddha (on the mountain's mid-slope). This extraordinary setting — where the Buddha embraces the ancient temple in its heart, and the ancient temple conceals the Buddha’s presence — helps explain why Zhu Muchan, the Prince of Qing during the Ming Dynasty, selected this site with such care for both his princely palace and the ancestral tombs. Even more astonishingly, at the crotch area between the giant Buddha’s legs, a sweet and clear spring still flows abundantly to this day. During temple fairs, the site is filled with curling incense smoke and the echoing sounds of temple bells.

Unfortunately, this thousand-year-old temple suffered severe damage during the Cultural Revolution’s campaign to “smash the Four Olds.” After the reform and opening-up, with support from government authorities at all levels, reconstruction began in early 1991 on the original site, following the traditional architectural style. The main halls and ten residential buildings were largely restored, giving the temple a renewed and substantial presence. Every year on the fourth day of the fourth lunar month during the temple fair, large numbers of Buddhist devotees and worshippers from Gansu, Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, and the local region flock to the mountain to pay homage, creating a grand and lively atmosphere.
