Last weekend marked the second weekend of the Peony Culture Festival, with blue skies, white clouds, lush green trees, and shimmering waters. Major scenic spots in Luoyang were bustling with visitors, as the city’s main tourist attractions welcomed a total of 1.2158 million visitors, while the average occupancy rate of star-rated hotels in the urban area reached 93.32%. The lively tourism atmosphere in Luoyang has impressed neighboring cities.
The prosperity of tourism in this ancient capital is inseparable from Luoyang’s excellent natural environment, and even more so from the resolute implementation by relevant municipal departments of Secretary Li Ya’s directives to “build an ecological environment system for Luoyang” and achieve “an ecological civilization level higher than the provincial average.”
Environmental protection is closely related to everyone's daily life. With China’s rapid economic development, environmental issues have become increasingly severe. How Luoyang can continue to advance supply-side reforms while increasing the proportion of green GDP and pursuing a path of green development has become a hot topic of public concern. This “Environmental Protection and Tourism Development” themed large-scale public welfare series, jointly organized by the Municipal Civilization Office, the Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau, and the Municipal Tourism Development Commission, and hosted by Yichuan Rural Commercial Bank with the collaboration of Ai Luoyang Network, aims to promote eco-friendly culture, raise environmental awareness, develop Luoyang tourism, and encourage civilized tourism. It also holds great significance for increasing public participation in environmental efforts, enriching Luoyang’s tourism offerings, and shaping the city’s tourism image.
The success of the event relies on broad public participation. This edition adopts the form of an electronic advocacy letter shared via social media, hoping to awaken public attention to environmental protection through this method. At the same time, a variety of popular activities have been designed, including a “Bicycle Green Travel” event, a “National Walking” campaign, “Parent-Child Environmental Interaction,” and an “Eco-New Idea Flash Mob.”
At the launch ceremony held this morning, Wang Xiaohui, Director of the Municipal Tourism Development Commission, stated that the sustainable development of Luoyang tourism cannot be separated from environmental protection, and that the city’s beautiful mountains and clear waters provide a solid foundation for tourism growth. Through this public welfare series, it is hoped to enhance citizens’ awareness of green and civilized travel and shape a new image of Luoyang nationwide.
Kang Fengli, Chairman of Yichuan Rural Commercial Bank, who attended today’s event, said that through this public welfare series, the bank will organize its Civilized Creation Volunteer Service Team to take to the streets and enter scenic areas to advocate for eco-friendly tourism and civilized travel, calling on friends from all sectors of society to join in the construction of spiritual civilization.
As Zhu Jingying, Deputy Secretary-General of the Municipal Government, announced the launch of the “Enjoying the Blue Sky and Fresh Air Together, Creating Eco-Friendly Tourism” large-scale public welfare series,she was joined by guests Wang Xiaohui, Jia Hongtao, Zhang Yuhong, Cai Jizong, Shen Xiaowei, Lu Jingyuan, Bai Chun, Li Qi,Kang Fengli,Guo Tingcai, Li Yan, Zhong Shefeng, and Gong Wen in lighting up the LED screen, marking the official start of this public welfare series.
After the launch, Tian Hua, the Environmental Tourism Ambassador and singer, initiated an environmental appeal on-site. Guests, media, and environmental volunteers shared the “electronic initiative poster” of the series via their WeChat Moments.
By hosting this large-scale public welfare series aimed at environmental protection and tourism development, Yichuan Rural Commercial Bank has also played a positive role in promoting social ethics, spreading environmental concepts, raising awareness, and developing eco-friendly tourism in Luoyang.
