Tagan Site

The Tagan Site is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Qinghai Province.

Tagan Site

Located east of Tiejia Camp Village, Lanlongkou Township, Huangzhong County, on the west bank of the Xina River. The site spans roughly 500×300 meters, with cultural layers 40–120 centimeters deep. Pottery fragments and animal bones are scattered over the ground, and numerous ash layers and pits are visible along the cliff faces, containing a wealth of debris including stones, bones, pottery, and scattered stone tools. The pottery fragments consist mainly of long-necked double-handled jars, four-handled jars, handleless jars, pots, urns, and li tripod remnants from the Kayue Culture’s Kayue type. Stone tools found include stone axes, stone pestles, and microliths. The northern part of the site suffered slight damage during land leveling, exposing parts of the cultural strata, though the remainder remains well preserved. It is a provincially designated cultural heritage site.
