Tianshui Shanxi-Shaanxi Guild Hall

The Tianshui Shanxi-Shaanxi Guild Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Gansu Province.

The Shanxi-Shaanxi Guild Hall is located on Jiefang Road, Zhongcheng Street, Qinzhou District, Tianshui City. It was built in the 13th year of the Republic of China (1924) and refers collectively to the Shanxi and Shaanxi Guild Halls, which are adjacent to each other. The Shanxi Guild Hall covers a land area of 171 square meters, with a construction area of 118 square meters. It faces east and has two halls, front and back. The front hall features a flush-gable and rolled shed roof, while the rear hall has a flush-gable and post-and-lintel structure, both with three bays in width. The Shaanxi Guild Hall covers a land area of 360 square meters, with a construction area of 300 square meters. It faces south and consists of a brick-carved gate tower and two halls, front and back. The gate tower has three bays in width, built with brick carvings imitating wooden structures, featuring exquisite carvings, fine masonry, rich symbolism, and an elegant appearance. The front hall has three bays in width and a flush-gable roof, while the rear hall also has three bays in width and a flush-gable with double-sloped roof. The Shanxi-Shaanxi Guild Hall holds significant value for the study of commercial activities, business development, guild hall architecture, and brick carving art in Tianshui during the Republican era. It was designated as a county-level cultural relic protection unit in 1990.

On November 8, 2017, it was included in the eighth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units in Gansu Province. The protected area extends 5 meters outward from the outer base of the surrounding wall in all four directions: east, south, west, and north.
