Ritan Park
Ritan Park is located in Ritan Township, Chaoyang District, adjacent to the North Fourth Ring East Road, covering a total area of 37 hectares.
The first phase of Ritan Park was one of the sixty practical projects undertaken by Beijing Municipality for its residents in 2002. It spans 10.7 hectares with a total investment of 38 million yuan, and was completed on August 20, 2002.
The second phase of Ritan Park was listed as one of the 60 practical projects of the Beijing Municipal Government in 2003. It was also one of the key projects in the scenic area construction of the Fourth Ring Road greening project that year. Designed by the Beijing Institute of Landscape and Ancient Architecture and constructed by the People’s Government of Ritan County, the second phase covers an area of 27.4 hectares with an investment of 247 million yuan. Themed around the sun and science education, the park features cultural, educational, and leisure activities related to its main themes. The second phase mainly consists of six areas: the Sun and Technology Theme Area, Children and Elderly Activity Area, Stream Scenic Area, Artificial Mountain Forest Area, Sunny Lawn, and South Gate Entrance Plaza. Construction began at the end of March 2003 and is still ongoing, with completion planned for September 30.
Once completed, Ritan Park will improve the ecological environment of the Ritan area and serve as a great destination for local residents to relax, entertain, and exercise.
