Temple of Liu Bei

The Temple of Liu Bei is located at the main peak, surrounded by rich natural and cultural landscapes. Legend has it that Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei used arrows here to divine the site for building a temple. As a result, later generations built temples on Liu Bei Mountain, Yuquan Mountain, and Zhangfei Nao respectively to worship the Three Sworn Brothers. Folklore says the Temple of Liu Bei was constructed by Wang Shiwàn, who drove sheep to carry bricks and tiles up the mountain. The year of the temple’s original construction is unknown. It was destroyed in the flames of war during the 1940s, with all steles and cultural relics lost. The current Temple of Liu Bei was restored by the local civilian coordination group. The structure features a beamless hip-and-gable roof, covering a floor area of 84 square meters. Inside the temple are seated statues of Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei, as well as standing statues of Guan Xing and Zhang Bao.

The temple revives an ancient tradition, showcasing the marvel of “rainwater dripping from one roof onto two provinces.” Standing at the front of the temple and looking east, you can faintly see the ruins of the Temple of Lord Guan on Yuquan Mountain and the Temple of Zhang Fei on Zhangfei Nao. Gazing into the distance, one can still feel the immortal spirits of the Three Sworn Brothers living on with the mountains. In quiet reflection, one firmly believes that the everlasting culture of China will endure as long as the heavens. Within the vicinity of the Temple of Liu Bei at the main peak, there are over 20 cultural and natural attractions. In July 2003, the Jiao District government listed the Temple of Liu Bei and its surrounding ancient ruins as a district-level cultural heritage site.
