Remember the TV show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition"? It featured top Japanese architects and interior designers who, within limited space and budget, skillfully crafted astonishing new homes. While some say older houses have a unique charm, and the atmosphere of vintage homes feels like a dialogue with a parallel past — but as for this house in East Hampton, New York, Robert Young Archietcture & Interiors firm didn’t see it that way. With the careful renovation by the architecture team, the formerly overgrown, weed-infested home has been transformed into a luxury residence!

The editors at Life Fairy Tale actually wanted to place this photo at the end, so readers could fully appreciate the dramatic difference before and after the renovation. But they were also worried that after seeing the subsequent series of interior images, readers might not believe such a huge transformation was possible!

The overall interior is based on wood and white paint tones. The simple design of the living room is meant to offer homeowners the most relaxing feeling as soon as they step inside. Imagine coming home on a freezing winter night, curling up on a cozy sofa with a cup of hot tea, and feeling all your fatigue melt away!

The bathroom also follows a pure white design, with a bright and tidy living space that’s refreshing to the senses — even brushing your teeth in the morning becomes a pleasure.

The children’s playroom features large floor-to-ceiling windows that let in warm sunlight.

The master bedroom also uses wood as its main material, and the slightly higher ceiling is outlined with irregular lines to create a spacious and uncluttered feel.

We just mentioned how the bright and clean bathroom can instantly lift one's mood — now here’s another eye-catching feature. Right next to the bathtub is a large expanse of floor-to-ceiling window. Imagine lounging in the tub on a lazy weekend morning after a shower, with nothing but the plants you’ve planted yourself in view.

The kitchen is, of course, completed with modular cabinetry. Everything from small appliances like the coffee machine to larger ones like the refrigerator and dishwasher is color-coordinated.

Another living space in the house features a cozy and comfortable carpet. Even though no one is in the photo, the editor can almost imagine a family gathered around the round table, laughing and having fun.

An outdoor swimming pool seems like a must-have for luxury homes, and with two lounge chairs by the pool, you can just picture saying, "Waiter, bring us two cocktails!"

Not only does it enhance the overall quality feel, but the wood also offers great insulation — keeping it warm in winter and cool in summer.

To be honest, the corner shown above is the editor’s favorite design — a semi-open corridor that spares you from unexpected downpours, while still allowing you to enjoy the pleasant summer evening breeze.

The last photo is quite simple — just a chair and a tote bag. But it actually conveys what the architects intended: no matter who walks into this house, they’ll be eager to drop whatever they’re holding and start running freely through this vast space.
