Cuifeng Mountain is situated in the southwestern part of Yangquan City’s suburbs, bordering the urban area to the east, Pingding to the south, Shouyang to the west, and Xinjing to the north. It spans 13 square kilometers, stands at an elevation of 1,430 meters, has a relative height difference of 700 meters, and maintains an average annual temperature of 10°C. With over 97% natural forest coverage, the area boasts lush and evenly distributed vegetation. In spring, peach and pear blossoms bloom; in summer, green fields flourish; in autumn, maple leaves glow crimson; and in winter, ice sculptures and snowscapes take shape. With picturesque scenery year-round, it is hailed as a natural paradise and an oxygen-rich haven.

The phenological characteristics of the Cuifeng Mountain tourism area are most pronounced from April to October. Notably, in mid-April, peach and apricot trees blossom, while September and October bring hillsides ablaze with red foliage—making these months the most vibrant for forest landscapes.

According to surveys by the Shanxi Branch of the China Academy of Geological Sciences, the Yuejiagou Spring in the Cuifeng Mountain tourism area is part of the Permian fractured rock aquifer, producing a strontium-rich, low-sodium natural mineral drinking water. It yields approximately 60 m³ per day. The mineral water is of high quality, with stable output, offering promising potential for tourism development.

Cuifeng Mountain boasts rich cultural resources, including preserved remnants of anti-Japanese war sites—such as the Dangma Wall site.

Within the Cuifeng Mountain Scenic Area, there is an 800-meter-long “Path of the Nature God” integrated with the natural ecosystem. Flanking the path are 40 totem poles representing deities of heaven and earth. The area also features Shanxi folk crafts such as clay figurines, dough flowers, puppets, shadow puppets, various leisure tea houses, and restaurants, making it an ideal spot for visitors to relax. The scenic area’s specimen hall displays around 400 types of marine and terrestrial plant and animal specimens, making it the largest natural science education venue in Shanxi Province. The mountain hosts nine viewpoints for watching sunrises, sunsets, peach blossoms, lush greenery in summer, red leaves, and snowy scenes. There is also a “Mountain-Shouting Cliff” for mood lifting, as well as naturally formed attractions like the “Gate of Wealth,” “Gate of Fortune,” “Gate of Happiness,” “Turtle Carrying a Tree,” and “Love Lasts Forever.”
