Yao Guan Ancient Town

Yao Guan is situated in the southern part of Shidian County, approximately 20 kilometers from the county seat. Historically, it served as a key stop on the ancient Southern Silk Road and was a center for economic and cultural exchange. Yao Guan is famous for its “beautiful mountains, unique rocks, mysterious caves, and picturesque waters,” and also has a long history and rich culture. The area enjoys a pleasant climate and is rich in natural resources. Not only is the scenery stunning, but the cultural heritage is also profound. Yao Guan has been designated by Yunnan Province as an Ecological Township and a Historic and Cultural Town, and is listed among Yunnan’s 60 Tourism Towns.

Outside Yao Guan Town lies Turtle Mountain, which features lush forests and beautiful scenery. On its western slope stands the renowned Xuzhong Shrine, commonly known as “General Deng’s Shrine” or “Loyal and Heroic Shrine.”
