Red Brick Art Museum

The Red Brick Art Museum is located in the No. 1 International Art Zone in the northeastern part of Beijing’s Chaoyang District. Covering a site area of approximately 20,000 square meters, with an exhibition space of nearly 10,000 square meters, it was founded by collectors Yan Shijie and Cao Mei and officially opened to the public on May 23, 2014. The architectural and landscape design of the museum was unifiedly designed by Dong Yugan, a professor at the Peking University School of Architecture, using red bricks as the primary building material. The design strives to maintain the integrity of each brick by avoiding unnecessary cutting during construction, thus forming a distinctive architectural language. This has resulted in a contemporary art museum that stands apart from the urban bustle and is embraced by a uniquely landscaped garden.
