The Water Well Tower is a cultural tourism attraction.

Introduction: The architecture of Dai ethnic water wells is highly ingenious. Both the shape and decoration of the well structures incorporate elements revered by the Dai people, such as elephants, peacocks, and pagodas. The wells are inlaid with many small round mirrors, giving them a solemn and luxurious appearance. This is because the Dai people love, respect, and use water to express love and blessings. Every Dai village has water well towers of various shapes. The Manjinbao Water Well Tower is a typical pagoda-shaped water well.

Transportation: Take Bus No. 1 from Jingde Road Civil Aviation Intersection (opposite the civil aviation ticket office, where you can transfer to Line 3) to Gasa. The fare is 2 yuan. The route passes by the new and old gates of the Ethnic Culture Park, outside the airport, and the Water Well Tower.

Food: The residents of Xishuangbanna are mainly of the Dai ethnic group, and Dai cuisine enjoys a high reputation within Yunnan’s culinary scene. Dai food primarily features sticky rice, sour flavors, grilled meats, and aquatic products, often using wild or cultivated plants as spices, giving it a unique ethnic flavor. The most representative dishes include: Sour Bamboo Shoots Stewed Fish (or Chicken), Lemongrass-Grilled Fish, Fragrant Bamboo Rice, and “Nam Prik” (a spicy and sour dipping sauce made with various seasonings, used for dipping cucumbers and similar items).
