M WOODS Art Museum
M WOODS (M WOODS Art Museum) is a privately-run, non-profit art institution co-founded by collectors Lin Han, his wife Lei Wan-ying (Wanwan), and Huang Xufu. M WOODS strives to present dialogues between artworks across eras and geographies, reconstructing their contexts through new approaches, and attempting to evoke our most genuine, original responses to art through the clear interplay and mutual immersion among the artworks.
The museum’s artistic programs primarily draw from its collection, spanning from ancient Chinese paintings and stone carvings to contemporary video installations. Its holdings are not limited to any specific era, region, or medium. In its commitment to promoting the universality of art, the museum explores its purity and timelessness, thereby interpreting and investigating the contemporaneity and contemporary responsibilities of today’s art institutions.
In addition to art exhibitions, M WOODS regularly offers public education programs for the general public, including forums, lectures, art events, and film screenings, to promote the popularization and dissemination of art.
In 2015, M WOODS was officially established as a “non-profit art institution” with approval from the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and the Beijing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau, and it will continue to contribute to public cultural services.
