Wujiang Karst National Geopark

The Wujiang Karst National Geopark is a national geopark and a science education base.

The Guizhou Sinan Wujiang Karst National Geopark is located within Sinan County, Guizhou Province. The park area encompasses the county seat of Sinan and surrounding areas including Silin Township, Tangtou Town, as well as the southwestern regions of Changba Township, Wenjiadian Town, and Qinggangpo Town. It spans from 107°52′ to 108°28′ east longitude and 27°32′ to 28°09′ north latitude, covering an area of 202.99 km².

The park primarily features karst landform landscapes, along with typical Wujiang Gorge landforms, geological structure relics, water bodies, and rare plants, as well as cultural elements such as ancient architecture, traditional villages, religious sites, and folk customs under the influence of Wujiang culture. The unique natural geographical conditions have nurtured distinctive ethnic customs, while the long-standing ethnic culture is seamlessly integrated into the natural landscape.

The park boasts China’s largest and most visually stunning karst stone forest discovered at this latitude—the Sinan Stone Forest. Moreover, the karst landscapes here, including stone forests, natural bridges, sinkholes, residual hills, karst springs, and cave deposits, are exceptionally well-developed, uniquely combined, and harmoniously integrated with human landscapes such as villages and farmlands. These features vividly illustrate the evolution of the Wujiang River valley and hold significant importance for the prevention of rocky desertification in China’s southwestern karst regions. The area is not only of great scientific research value but also offers vast tourism and aesthetic appeal.
