The Red Army Site is a cultural tourism attraction and a classic red tourism site.

Red Army Site

Red Army Site. Originally the Jiangxi Guild Hall, on January 8, 1936, the Second and Sixth Red Armies passed through here during the Long March from the Xiang-E’ Border Region to northeastern Kang. The direct units of the Second Army and the Fifth Division were stationed in Zhujiachang Town, while the Sixth Division was stationed in Qianguangtun, on the other side of a mountain — then called Qianwangtun. Commanders such as He Long and Ren Bishi stayed in this guild hall, which then became the temporary command center. No major battles took place here, but the Red Army punished and executed the local landlord Zheng Erchang and his son Zheng Daosheng, who served as the puppet district head of Zhujiachang. After the Red Army departed, a small number of wounded soldiers were left behind, two of whom were unfortunately killed. The site has now been converted into Zhujiachang Central Primary School and is a county-level cultural relic protection unit.

The site also features a quite spectacular cluster of camphor trees, with fifteen tall, ancient camphor trees standing in neat rows, all over a hundred years old. Try guessing how many people it takes to join hands around one. There are also nearly twenty smaller camphor trees.
