Ganxi National Forest Park

Ganxi Forest Park is located southwest of Guiding County. It was formerly known as the Ganxi Forest Farm, established in 1958. The forest farm covers a total land area of 9,030 mu, with a forested area of 6,200 mu, a timber stock volume of 31,000 cubic meters, and a forest coverage rate of 68.88%.

In December 2011, it was approved as a provincial-level forest park by the Guizhou Provincial Forestry Department. The park currently has over 200 tree species. Native species mainly include Masson pine, Chinese fir, catalpa, catalpa ovata, and black locust, while cultivated precious species include yew, cedar, michelia maudiae, michelia wilsonii, magnolia officinalis, manglietia fordiana, camptotheca acuminata, Yulan magnolia, saucer magnolia, thuja orientalis, and camphor tree. It is a comprehensive suburban forest park integrating ecological conservation, leisure vacation, science education, and the display of ecological civilization achievements.

In 2014, it was awarded the title of “National Ecological Civilization Education Base” by the State Forestry Administration, the Ministry of Education, and the Communist Youth League Central Committee.

The upgraded Guiding Ganxi National Forest Park has a planned total area of 2,277.74 hectares, consisting of the Ganxi Forest Farm area and the Yangbaoshan Dumuhe area. The park boasts abundant forest resources, a beautiful ecological environment, and a rich variety of landscapes. It serves as a model for forest vegetation restoration and conservation in China’s karst regions. It is not only an important forest landscape resource and an ecological barrier for the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, but also a natural oxygen bar and green gene bank for Guiding County. Additionally, it is the only national-level ecological civilization education base in Qiannan Prefecture.
