Fuquan Sajin Valley is a national AA-rated tourist attraction and a national water conservancy scenic area.

The Sajin Valley Scenic Area is among the first ten provincial-level scenic spots announced by the provincial government and is a national AA-rated tourist attraction. The whole area integrates "antiquity, serenity, wonder, and peril." The Sanjiangkou (Three Rivers’ Confluence) is named after the meeting point of the Yuliang River, Zhuliang River, and Xijiang River. It is the first stop and transfer hub for eastern Guizhou tourism and spans a total area of over 10 square kilometers. The natural and cultural landscapes complement each other. Natural attractions include the Snow-Surging Waterfall, Golden Turtle Playing with the Waterfall, General Crossing the River, Black Alley, and Duck Claw Dam. Cultural sites feature the Tofu Bridge, Immortal’s Shadow Rock, and Immortal’s Cave.

The Fuquan City Sajin Valley Water Conservancy Scenic Area is built around the Douhe Reservoir and similar projects, classified as an urban river-lake type water conservancy scenic zone. The planned area of the scenic zone spans 189.35 square kilometers, including 1.76 square kilometers of water surface. Among them, Sajin Valley is famed for being "ancient, serene, wondrous, and perilous." Ancient bridges, old post roads, and cliff inscriptions are scattered throughout the valley. The steep cliffs within the valley are majestic and imposing. Three rivers create a stunning spectacle, with precipitous peaks and waterfalls, lush green mountains, and beautiful scenery all gathered in one place. Attractions such as General Stone, Snow-Surging Waterfall, Golden Turtle Playing with the Waterfall, One-Line Sky, Immortal’s Shadow Rock, and Immortal’s Cave form a naturally beautiful landscape painting. It has been praised as the "Luxembourg of the East" and Guizhou’s "Little Three Gorges."

The Fuquan Sajin Valley Water Conservancy Scenic Area integrates both natural and cultural landscapes, featuring rich hydrological, geomorphological, celestial, engineering, and cultural sights. Fuquan City has deeply explored its local natural and cultural resources and established the Sajin Valley Water Conservancy Scenic Area with an ancient city cultural tourism core, the Shahe and Weizu rivers as landscape belts, and Longchang, Shuanggu, and Chahé as zone areas — forming a "one center, two belts, three zones" water conservancy scenic layout. The area also incorporates tourism, leisure, entertainment, dining, and accommodation, making it an open water landscape scenic area themed around historical culture and Tai Chi wellness.

The Fuquan Sajin Valley Water Conservancy Scenic Area has been designated as a national-level water conservancy scenic spot, which will further enhance Fuquan’s external visibility and reputation, laying a solid foundation for establishing a water ecological civilization city. It will also drive major development and prosperity in Fuquan’s tourism industry, and play a crucial role in boosting income for residents across the city and supporting poverty alleviation efforts.

Major Attractions

Central Attractions

The central attraction is the confluence of the three rivers, where the waters blend in a spectacular display. Traveling upstream along the three rivers, to the south lies the ancient ferry of Yuliang River at Xiangqin Gorge, to the north you can gaze upon the Taoist sacred site of Fuquan Mountain by the Shahe River, and to the west leads to the Immortal’s Cave along the Zhuliang River. At the meeting point of the three rivers, towering cliffs rise powerfully and magnificently, with a massive boulder standing alone in the middle of the river, about tens of meters high, known as "General Crossing the River." There is also a legend that it is the “Golden Whip Stone” left behind by Zhang Sanfeng when he herded sheep. About 50 meters from the Shahe River, there is a waterfall beneath which lies a horizontally stretched rock called "Golden Turtle Playing with the Waterfall."

Each scenic feature in Sajin Valley comes with its own beautiful legend, such as "The Ox King Jumps into the Well," "The Black Bear Embraces the Beauty," "Tofu Bridge," and "Straw Sandal Well," among others. Ancient city walls, bridges, post roads, and cliff carvings transport visitors to a serene haven far from the hustle and bustle of modern cities. The "Tofu Bridge" is even recorded in China’s bridge history for its exquisite construction techniques. At the bridgehead, poems about the bridge written by literati throughout the dynasties are still preserved.

Other attractions in Fuquan include the Immortal’s Cave, Immortal Bridge Stone Forest, and the scenery around the Gejing Bridge.

Cultural heritage sites include the Fuquan Ancient City Walls, a unique cultural landmark within the Sajin Valley Scenic Area. Originally built in the 14th year of the Hongwu reign during the Ming Dynasty (1318), the Small West Gate Water City consists of three layers of walls: the inner city, water city, and outer city. These are interconnected vertically, creating a grand and majestic atmosphere, earning it the title "Guizhou’s Badaling." The integration of city and water creates a dynamic scene where the city enhances the charm of the water, and the water adds character to the city, offering considerable aesthetic value. In the southwest corner of the city lies the Taoist sacred site — Fuquan Mountain.

Regional Transportation

You can take the "Fanjing Mountain" tourist train from Guiyang Railway Station and get off at Mapingping. The ticket costs 11 yuan; from there, take a minibus or van to Fuquan, at 1.5–2 yuan per person.
