Jiefang Village in Hongshui Town is located in the suburbs of Qianxi County, just 7 kilometers from the county seat and 17 kilometers from the China Hundred Miles Azalea National 5A-level Scenic Area, enjoying a highly advantageous location. The village covers a land area of 6.8 square kilometers, comprises 10 villager groups, and has a cultivated land area of 2,350 mu, including 1,800 mu of paddy fields. The Hongshui River and Caijia River, both originating within the town, converge in Jiefang Village to form the Fengshui River. The river takes on a “V” shape, dividing the village into three parts. The village boasts fertile soil and abundant water resources. Its standardized rice cultivation project is the core area of the sixth batch of national first-class agricultural standardization demonstration projects, and the high-quality rice produced here has been certified as pollution-free agricultural produce by the Ministry of Agriculture.

The village is known for its simple folkways, elegant residences, and profound cultural heritage. All 468 residential houses are built in the distinctive northwestern Guizhou style—featuring black tiles, white walls, patterned windows, and storied pavilions—creating a beautiful landscape for the village. Jiefang Village has long been a land of outstanding people and cultural richness. During the Qing Dynasty, the Shi family alone produced 14 successful candidates in the imperial provincial examinations, 8 tribute students, and 22 scholars; nearly a thousand ancient poems have been collected and compiled from the area. The village also has a rich revolutionary history. In the winter of 1936, during the Long March, the Second and Sixth Armies of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army passed through Qianxi and held a mass meeting in Jiefang Village, sowing the seeds of the red revolution. The village’s natural ecology remains well-preserved, its pastoral scenery remains in its most authentic form, and its tourism resources are uniquely charming. “In spring, ten miles of rapeseed flowers bloom golden; in autumn, tens of thousands of acres of rice fields exude fragrance. The Dragon Pond meets the outskirts where waters converge, and jade-like rivers meander around the village”—this verse vividly depicts the local rural landscape.

In 2009, Jiefang Village was listed among the “Top Ten Rural Tourism Demonstration Sites in the Bijie Experimental Zone.” In 2010, Liuan Shuixiang was jointly named a “First Batch of Provincial-Level Leisure Agriculture and Rural Tourism Demonstration Sites” by the Provincial Department of Agriculture and the Provincial Tourism Bureau. In December 2011, Jiefang Village was designated by the Ministry of Agriculture as “China’s Most Charming Leisure Village.” Also in December 2011, it was awarded the title of “National Civilized Village” by the Central Guidance Commission for Building Spiritual Civilization. In November 2013, Jiefang Village was honored with the title of “National Most Beautiful Livable Demonstration Village” by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
