Lei Tea and Glutinous Rice Cake is a unique product of the Miao people in Qianxi, known for its medicinal properties such as moistening the intestines, clearing heat, nourishing the body, refreshing the mind, and invigorating the stomach. It originated from a prescription created by a Miao herbal doctor in Qianxi to treat illnesses, which gradually spread to the public and evolved over time. The preparation involves roasting and grinding hemp seeds into a fine powder, placing them in a pot with water, stirring and filtering to remove the husks, then adding an appropriate amount of salt and chopped scallions to make “Lei Tea.” The fried glutinous rice cakes are then soaked in the Lei Tea before eating. They are crispy yet soft, fragrant, fresh, smooth, flaky on the outside and tender inside, with a rich aroma—making them a delicacy among snacks. In 2003, it was awarded the second prize in the “Bijie Regional Special Gourmet – Night Yao Culture Food Award.”
