Huangguoshu Waterfall Water-Curtain Cave

The Water-Curtain Cave is located behind Huangguoshu Waterfall, resembling a long dragon lying horizontally behind the mighty falls. This is the biggest highlight of Huangguoshu Waterfall, allowing visitors to get up close to the waterfall, experience its grandeur from behind, and even catch the water in their hands.

When visiting Huangguoshu Waterfall, be sure to walk through the Water-Curtain Cave. Before entering, wear a raincoat as the splashing waterfall water can soak your clothes. When we went, there weren’t too many people, and everyone waited patiently in line to take photos. Walking through the magical cave while seeing the cascading waterfall was an amazing experience!

The deeper you go into the cave, the more magical it feels. It’s truly astonishing that such a large hollow space exists inside the waterfall, as if it were created just for us. The interior is very damp due to years of rain erosion, with many stalactites dripping water. Even in the peak of summer, it can feel a bit chilly inside the Water-Curtain Cave. The walls are adorned with hanging cacti, banyan trees, shrubs, and countless vines, forming a natural barrier. Thanks to the Water-Curtain Cave, Huangguoshu Waterfall becomes even more picturesque, serene, and mysterious.

The uniqueness of Huangguoshu Grand Waterfall lies in its series of stunning sights on the ground, underground, above water, and in the water. The most remarkable of these is the 134-meter-long Water-Curtain Cave, hidden halfway up the great waterfall. The cave consists of six cave windows, five cave halls, three cave springs, and six passages.

Entering the cave from the pathway, you find yourself inside, with water curtains pouring down from above. Gazing out through the crystal-clear waterfall, the green mountains, trees, visitors, and teahouses on the other side of the falls appear hazy and dreamlike, as if you're in a heavenly realm on earth—truly a delightful experience. Beyond enjoying these wonders, the most breathtaking sight in the Water-Curtain Cave is the rainbow visible through its various windows, looking out over Rhinoceros Pool. The rainbows here are not only double rainbows but also dynamic ones (shifting as you move), making it a true natural spectacle.

Opening Hours:

8:00–18:00 (Doupotang and Huangguoshu Waterfall scenic areas close at 18:00; Tianxingqiao scenic area closes at 17:30).

Transportation

External Transportation:

1. Take a direct bus from Jinyang Bus Station in Guiyang to Huangguoshu. The journey takes about 2 hours.

2. Take a bus from Anshun East Passenger Transport Station to Huangguoshu. The fare is 20 RMB per person, and the ride takes about 1 hour.

Internal Transportation:

1. Huangguoshu Giant Escalator: one-way 30 RMB, round-trip 50 RMB.

2. Sightseeing bus: 50 RMB. The entrance ticket includes access to Huangguoshu Waterfall, Tianxingqiao, and Doupotang, which are some distance apart. The sightseeing bus shuttles between these three spots and the main gate. Alternatively, you can take taxis within the scenic area (approximate rate: 50 RMB per person), but private cars are not allowed inside.

1. Summer (March 1 – November 30): 180 RMB per person; Winter (December 1 – end of February): 160 RMB per person (includes Huangguoshu Grand Waterfall, Tianxingqiao, and Doupotang).

2. Scenic Area Sightseeing Bus Ticket: 50 RMB per person (implemented since May 8, 2012).

3. Huangguoshu Unique Stone Museum: 70 RMB per person.

4. Huangguoshu Giant Escalator: 50 RMB per person (round trip), 30 RMB per person (one way).

5. Tianxingqiao Cable Car Ticket: 10 RMB per person.

Concession Price

1. Full-time university undergraduates and below can enjoy a 50% discount with a valid student ID.

2. Laid-off workers can enjoy a 50% discount with valid credentials.

3. Urban low-income individuals and rural “five-guarantee households” can enjoy a 50% discount with valid certificates.

4. Seniors aged 60–69 can enjoy a 50% discount by presenting their valid ID.

1. Children under 14 years old (excluding 14) can enter for free by presenting their valid ID or household registration book.
