Langgong Scenic Area

Langgong Scenic Area is one of the six major scenic areas within the Huangguoshu Scenic Zone. It is located 8 kilometers from the Huangguoshu Waterfall, the main attraction of the Huangguoshu Scenic Area, and 4.8 kilometers from the Tianxingqiao Scenic Area. Surrounded by water on three sides, the area boasts expansive riverbanks, gentle water flow, towering mountains, and open farmland. Ancient banyan trees, banana plants, and kapok trees are nestled among the scattered village houses, offering a distinctly subtropical valley and farmland landscape. The locals are skilled singers and dancers. On traditional days of joy such as the sixth day of the sixth lunar month for young Buyi men and women, the open square becomes a lively gathering place. Men and women form separate groups, and those who take a liking to each other often retreat to the fields, under trees, by the river, or along the cliffs to express their feelings through antiphonal singing back-to-back—a unique courtship tradition of the Buyi people known as “Ganbiao.” In summer, Langgong also offers thrilling rafting adventures.
