Linfen Qiliyu Tourist Area

The Qiliyu Scenic Area is located in the western part of the Taiyue Mountain National Forest Park, within the territory of Huozhou City, Shanxi Province. It borders the Lingkong Mountain Scenic Area of Qin Yuan County to the east, neighbors Gu County to the south, adjoins Lingshi to the north, and is adjacent to the Shigashan Scenic Area. It covers an area of 2,039.3 hectares, with a core zone of 1,117.9 hectares. The scenic area is connected by the Huoqin Highway between Huozhou and Qin Yuan. Fifteen kilometers from the scenic area, the Dayun Expressway links the north and south of Shanxi, providing direct access to Huozhou, Linfen, Taiyuan, and other destinations, making transportation very convenient.

The Qiliyu Scenic Area is one of the main scenic spots of "Zhongzhen Huoshan." Its majestic and expansive mountain ranges, continuous peaks, undulating waves, and ever-changing scenery feature peculiar peaks, canyons, clear springs, waterfalls, pine trees, and sea of clouds in diverse forms. The scenic area extends 10 kilometers in depth, with a forest coverage rate of 95%. Everywhere is shaded by greenery and moist with mist, with vast natural grasslands stretching as far as the eye can see, and pristine forests blocking out the sun. The cool and pleasant Qiliyu is known as the "Natural Oxygen Bar," "Gem of China’s Green Lung," and "Green Lung of North China." A poem reads: “Climbing Huoshan reveals distant serenity, turning the July heat into autumn.” Qiliyu is a lesser-known ecological tourism paradise, a pristine land untouched by external pollution.

The Qiliyu Scenic Area mainly features a landscape forest of North China larches, set against a backdrop of mountains and waters. With rolling peaks and layers of verdant hills, the ceaseless flow of the Hongzhao River, and the integration of peculiar peaks and rocks with the river, it forms the unique natural landscape of Qiliyu, making it the only ecological tourism destination in Shanxi Province.

The Qiliyu Scenic Area is divided into three zones: the Huohongzhao Tourist Zone, the Sanyanyao Tourist Zone, and the Heilong Gorge Tourist Zone. It boasts 28 scenic spots. Major attractions include "Wulonghe, Dishuiya Waterfall, Shuangru Peak, Nantianmen, Shiren Gully, Niulao Gully, Rocky Cliff Pines, Baxian Cave, Hongzhao Martyrs’ Pavilion, the 10,000-mu Larch Plantation in Jinguo MAN, and Heilong Gorge."

In recent years, with strong care and support from the Forestry Department, Huozhou Municipal Government, Provincial Forest Park Management Center, and Taiyue Forestry Bureau, the Qiliyu Scenic Area is under accelerated development. At an altitude of 2,504.3 meters, the mountain has five gullies, said to have been dug by a giant dragon’s claws, hence the name Wulonghe (Five Dragon Gullies). Climbing to the top offers a panoramic view of Huozhou. Dishuiya Waterfall

Located on the eastern side of Zhengnangou, the waterfall has a drop of over 50 meters, with water cascading like a Milky Way falling from the sky. Below the waterfall is a natural stone cave, forming a curtain of water over the cave, also known as Dongbin Waterfall. The uniqueness of this scenery makes it a marvel of the mountain streams. Located on both the eastern and western sides of Zhengnangou, the peaks are named for their resemblance to a pair of breasts. It is a famous attraction in Zhengnangou, with towering pines and cypresses standing firmly atop the peaks, creating a spectacular and majestic sight. Nantianmen

Situated at the highest point of Zhengnangou, it features oddly shaped rocks standing tall and reaching into the clouds. Ascending to Nantianmen, one stands above a vast sea of clouds, feeling as if entering a fairyland. Shiren Gully

Nestled within a cliff over 50 meters high, the gully is about 10 meters wide. Inside the gully stands a 30-meter-tall rock formation resembling a person, hence the name Shiren Gully (Stone Figure Gully).

Niulao Gully

Being there feels like entering a vast, boundless grassland, where endless green stretches into the blue sky and white clouds, bringing a sense of tranquility and joy. Shiyana Song

Also known as Red Rock Pine or Guest-Greeting Pine, the tree is 4 meters tall, growing on a massive rock and rooted in a crevice, earning the title of the "Thousand-Year-Old Pine That Never Ages." Natural Larch Reserve

Located at the base of Jinguo MAN, covering nearly 100 acres, it is a key reserve for natural larches in North China. Baxian Cave

Situated 30 meters above the bottom of Toushui Gully on a cliff, the cave is 10 meters deep, 5 meters high, and 3 meters wide. Inside the cave are eight square stones, said to be the resting place of the Eight Immortals.

The Qiliyu Scenic Area features murmuring streams, drifting white clouds, towering cliffs, hanging waterfalls, lush natural forests, and verdant natural pastures. The integration of landscapes, forests, and pastures creates a premium environment for "forest bathing." It rivals "Zhangjiajie" and "Jiuzhaigou" and is an ideal location for building resort villages in various styles from ancient to modern times and across cultures.
